On Sunday, FIFA’s president Gianni Infantino addressed the women's football situation on the agenda of FIFA, especially amid the current FIFA Women's World Cup in Australia and New Zealand.
Infantino discussed women's football during a Q&A session, celebrating the 1M followers on Instagram.
FIFA President asserted that FIFA is working on elevating women’s football, calling it a "top priority for FIFA."
He explained: "Since I arrived, We have invested a lot in the development of the game. Not Just financial but also human resources and technical expertise.” FIFA President Gianni Infantino stated.
“We’ve made sure that women’s football is played in every corner of the world. There were 120 countries participating in the qualifiers for the 2015 world cup but now it is 190 countries who play women’s football. At the World cup, there are almost 2 million viewers in the stadiums and 2 billion watching across the world.”
After that he talked about Australia and New Zealand as hosts for the current FIFA Women's World Cup, highlighting: “Australia and New Zealand have been wonderful hosts of the World Cup. They make us all feel at home and they’ve welcomed us. They participate in the stadium, they participate in the streets, they are in the cities making big celebrations with full stadiums, there is a great crowd and incredible atmosphere.”
He continued: “There have been great performances, counter performances, incredible technical skills and great fantastic goals. Everyone has a chance to win the world Cup whether from Europe, America or Africa."
