Palestinian medical sources announced Tuesday morning the death of an infant due to the extreme cold in Gaza City.
The sources, as reported by the Palestinian News Agency (WAFA) today, explained that seven-month-old Shatha Abu Jarad died in Gaza City due to the severe cold. They emphasized that the incident reflects the dire humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip, particularly for children and displaced people living in flimsy tents ill-equipped to withstand the cold weather.
With the death of Abu Jarad, the number of children who have died in the Gaza Strip due to the extreme cold since the beginning of winter has risen to nine, amidst a shortage of aid and a lack of heating.
Residents of the Gaza Strip are suffering from a lack of shelter and medical care, and a lack of heating due to fuel shortages, amidst a stormy, cold, and rainy weather system.
