Indonesian President-elect Prabowo Subianto said that the government is ready to host a thousand Palestinian students from the Gaza Strip to study in Islamic boarding schools in East Java province.

Subianto - who currently holds the position of Defense Minister - said that the proposal was presented by the Governor of East Java, Khofifah Indar Parawansa, and will be put before the country’s current president, Joko Widodo.  In addition, many of the province’s universities are also ready to provide scholarships to Palestinian students, according to the network. "Channel News Asia".

Subianto added that several officials in West Java province also expressed their willingness to receive refugees from Gaza in boarding schools and provide them with scholarships, adding that he would coordinate with the Secretary-General of the United Nations and other country leaders on how to implement these proposals.
