An Indonesian ferry sank off the coast of South Sulawesi in Indonesia, 17 people were rescued while up to 43 were missing, Antara news agency reported on Saturday.
The KM Ladang Pratiwi ferry, supposedly carrying 60 passengers and cargo, departed on Wednesday from the port of South Sulawesi's capital, Makassar, to one of the neighboring islands.
The agency reported that the ferry sent a distress call on Thursday, but rescuers managed to reach the wreck area only on Friday and were able to find and rescue 17 people.
The news agency added that the search and rescue operation continued throughout Saturday.
Antara quoted port officials that there is no information about 43 people so far.
