Hindi is the third most spoken language of the world. Hindi is the mother tongue of around 340 million people and is also an official language of India. Outside India, Hindi and its derivatives are spoken in over 20 countries.
The ‘World Hindi Day’ is celebrated on 10 January under the auspices of the Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India with an overarching aim of promotion of Hindi world-wide. The ‘World Hindi Day’ commemorates the historic moment when Hindi was first spoken in the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in 1949. On the occasion of ‘World Hindi Day’, a number of events and activities are organized to promote Hindi and celebrate its rich cultural heritage.
The Maulana Azad Centre for Indian Culture (MACIC) under Embassy of India, Cairo will organize competitions during the period January 21-25, 2024 to celebrate the ‘World Hindi Day 2024’. The competitions would be held in the following categories:
• Hindi Hand Writing (Senior and Junior levels)
• Hindi Extempore Speaking (Senior and Junior levels)
• Hindi Picture Writing (Senior and Junior levels)
• Hindi Group Quiz (Senior and Junior levels)
• Hindi Essay writing competition
The winners will be awarded with prizes and certificates in the ‘World Hindi Day’ celebration to be held at Gomhouriya Theatre on Wednesday, the 31 January, 2024.
