On Monday, India's Ambassador to Egypt Mr. Ajit Gupte unveiled and detailed his country's comprehensive plan to roll out Covid-19 vaccines for every citizen across India as a part of the Indian program against the awful pandemic.

Like many countries around the world, India’s healthcare system has been impacted by the COVID-19. When the pandemic was at its peak in 2020, a shortage of Covid-19 vaccines and medicines was a common problem.

In response to this problem, India has recently decided to rely on its domestic institutions, to secure its share of the potential vaccine against the epidemic. Though the vaccine doesn’t guarantee 100 percent protection against the virus, it is essential as it reduces the severity of its symptoms.

Speaking to Sada Elbalad English, Mr. Gupte said, "India has secured enough vaccine supply to vaccinate nearly 481 million citizens from different Indian provinces relying on its domestic capabilities.

"India has provided medical-related assistance and, subsequently, vaccines to numerous Indians and successfully vaccinated those who lived in the mountains, as well as remote territories," the Indian official said.

In the same connection, he emphasized that India has been manufacturing its own vaccine to cover the needs of its citizens and the rest of the world as well.

Asking how India has managed to administer vaccine rollout, he replied: "The Indian government gave the priority to vulnerable people and after a while, it outlined new guidance to all states recommending they open vaccine availability to all people across the country."

He added that his country engaged in vaccination development and manufacturing a new vaccine called "COVAXIN" to fulfill the needs of the entire population.
