Indian Minister of State for Defence Sanjay Seth said that about 100 people are still missing due to flash floods that hit the Uttarakhand district in the northern state of Uttarakhand, describing the situation as "critical."
"This is a natural disaster. We have received reports of four deaths and about 100 missing," Seth said in statements reported by the Indian newspaper Hindustan Times on Wednesday.
Monsoon-related disasters are common in India during the period from June to September, with floods and landslides claiming dozens of lives each year, particularly in mountainous regions.
