India: 6 Killed, Dozens Injured in Factory Explosion

At least 6 workers were killed, and more than a dozen injured after a boiler exploded in a noodle-making factory in India, officials revealed on Sunday.

Authorities affirmed that rescue operations are underway, adding that the death toll is expected to rise. The blast took place in Bihar's Muzaffarpur.

The identities of those who died are yet to be confirmed. It is not known how many people were working at the factory at the time of the accident, according to Hindustan Times.

The explosion was so powerful that it was heard 5 km away from the site of the incident. At least 5 fire brigades were rushed to extinguish the flames.

People who live in the vicinity said they heard a loud thud when the explosion rocked the factory.

The exact cause of the incident has not been revealed yet. Meanwhile, the factory gates have been closed.

On Tuesday, three people were killed and 44 injured in a flash fire at the Indian Oil Corporation’s refinery in Haldia, East Midnapore.

Of the injured, 16 were in critical condition and were transferred to a private hospital in Kolkata for treatment, according to reports. The Indian fire department affirmed that they had managed to bring the blaze under control.
