Many of the Egyptian expatriates in Germany are seen gathering to receive Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi, who is paying a visit to Berlin on Saturday.

Dozens of Egyptian community members in Berlin gathered in the streets, carrying Egyptian flags, balloons, and loudspeakers to welcome President Sisi.

Head of the Egyptian Family House in Germany، Alaa Thabet, said that the Egyptian community in Germany has fully prepared to receive El-Sisi with huge banners reading “Welcome to President El-Sisi”, as well as holding flag and balloons that express their support and love for the Egyptian president.

Thabet added that they will gather in front of El-Sisi’s place of residence in Berlin to welcome the president, show their complete support to the political leadership and the state’s reform steps.

El Sisi is set to kick off a European trip on Saturday as he will attend the Berlin Conference on Libya hosted by Germany and the UK-Africa Summit in London.

The first stop will be in Berlin as Germany hosts an important conference on the Libyan crisis. The Berlin Conference on Libya is set to be on Sunday with the participation of the five permanent states at the Security Council, Congo, the UAE, Italy, Turkey, and Algeria and four international organizations; the United Nations, the League of the Arab States, the European Union and the African Union.

For Libyan parties; Commander of the Libyan National Army General Khalifa Haftar and Head of the Government of the National Accord Fayez al-Sarraj confirmed their attendance.

A few days ago, Sisi received a phone call from Germany Chancellor Angela Merkel and discussed Libyan developments.

“Sisi and Merkel agreed that illegitimate foreign interferences in Libyan affairs must stop,” said Presidential Spokesman Bassam Rady.

The second stop will be in London where Sisi will take part in the UK-Africa Summit, hosted by Prime Minister Boris Johnson.
