UNESCO's Director-General Audrey Azoulay said Sunday that the Golden Parade of Royal Mummies reflected Egypt's efforts under the leadership of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi in preserving its very rich heritage throughout different ages.

"The Golden Parade proved that Egypt is an integral part of the world heritage and a beacon of civilization to the whole world," said Azoulay

Sisi received Azoulay in the presence of Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Dr. Khaled El-Enany and Minister of Culture Dr. Inas Abdel Dayem, according to Presidency Spokesperson Bassam Rady.

"The president hailed the continuous support provided by the UNESCO internationally and regionally to the sectors of education, culture, and science as well as its efforts to promote and protect antiquities and heritage in Egypt and around the world," he noted.

For her part, Azoulay expressed her honor to meet Sisi. She expressed her profound appreciation for the Pharaohs’ Golden Parade, which presented the rich heritage of Egypt over different ages to the whole world.

She stressed that this event also embodied the effort and great support provided by the Egyptian state under the leadership of President Sisi to preserve Egypt's cultural and archaeological heritage. "This event is an integral part of the world’s heritage and a civilizational beacon presented to the whole world."

Azoulay also expressed UNESCO's aspiration to continue and develop its cooperation with Egypt. It was noted that the organization has had close cooperation relations with Egypt, especially with regard to the Rescue of Nubian Monuments in the middle of the last century.

The UNESCO's official and her accompanying delegation visited the Saqqara monuments and the pyramids of Giza. They were accompanied by Dr. Mustafa Waziri, the secretary-general of the Supreme Council of Antiquities.

The tour included Al-Muizz Street, the Sultan Qalawun Group, the Sultan Barquq School, and the Museum of Islamic Art.
