"This axis will serve as a new traffic artery linking the neighborhoods and areas of east Cairo with the gatherings of the city of New Cairo and to shorten a lot of time and distance and relieve pressure on the Cairo-Suez axis," said Rady.

Sisi also inspected the development works of the highway, starting from the bottom of the Cairo Airport Bridge to the Bridge of Field Marshal Abu Ghazala to link with the communities located in the distance between the Airport Bridge and the Thunderbolt Bridge, with seven traffic lanes in each direction.

He followed up with the officials the implementation rates and the progress of work, stressing the technical and construction efficiency of the new axes and bridges, taking into account the sustainability of their efficiency and their absorption of movement and traffic for the future time period.

President Sisi pointed out to the great importance of these roads and axes in regulating the traffic movement in Cairo Governorate and the cities and urban communities in its geographical surroundings, affirming the necessity to adhere to the basic principles applied in all road projects and axes nationwide.
