On Wednesday, Impact Wrestling, and New Japan Pro Wrestling (NJPW) announced a new contest for their joint PPV, Multiverse United, this Friday.
Lio Rush will face Kushida in a single contest, after the injury of Josh Alexander.
Kushida was scheduled for the event to face the Impact World Champion who relinquished his title due to injury.
It is not the first sudden change to the card of the Impact-NJPW joint event, as NJPW's star Will Ospreay was pulled from the card, and replaced by the Japanese promotion legend Hiroshi Tanahashi.
