The population of Egypt has reached a staggering 105 million people, which is five times higher than the figure recorded in 1950, according to a report issued by the Egyptian Cabinet's Information and Decision Support Center (IDSC).
The report by the center shows that the population has grown to 105 million in 2023 from 21 million in 1950.
Egypt is currently the most populous country in the Middle East and the third most populous in Africa, as per the World Bank. This latest update puts further pressure on Egypt's struggling economy, which has already been hit hard by inflation rates of over 30 percent in the past year, leading to a drastic decline in living standards.
