Egypt has been ranked 22nd among 67 countries in the Climate Change Performance Index (CCPI) 2024, according to the Egyptian Cabinet's Information and Decision Support Center (IDSC).
The IDSC added in a statement that Egypt came in second place in the Middle East and North Africa, following Morocco.
The index, which is issued by German Watch corporation, has pointed out that Egypt has taken measures to expand its investments in renewable energy projects, with a particular focus on solar and wind energies. The index also highlighted that Egypt has promoted larger investments in fossil fuels, particularly fossil gas.
The statement was released on the occasion of World Meteorological Day, which is celebrated on March 23 and recognizes the important role of the organization in advancing global efforts in weather, climate, and water management.
