IDSC: Egypt Ranks 1st Globally in E-commerce Legislation

The Information and Decision Support Center of the Egyptian cabinet (IDSC) published a new infographic that monitors the progress of Egypt’s ranking in the Network Readiness Index (NRI) issued by the Portulans Institute (PI) in November 2022.

"Egypt became the first in the world in the sub-pillar "e-commerce legislation" in 2022," said IDSC, citing PI's reports.

According to the latest infographic, Egypt advanced 4 ranks, at the level of the general index, by becoming the 73rd in 2022 among 131 countries in the world, with a total score of 47.76, compared to 77th place in 2021 among 130 countries in the world, with a total score of 47.56.

"At the level of the main pillars; Egypt advanced 16 places in the governance pillar, to become the 74th in 2022, compared to the 90th in 2021. At the level of sub-pillars, Egypt advanced 20 places in the access sub-pillar in the technology pillar," the infographic said.

"It also advanced 18 places in the trust sub-pillar located in the governance pillar; To become the 70th in 2022, and the 88th in 2021."

In general, the index assesses the state of readiness of networks in countries through 4 main pillars; Technology, People, Governance, and Impact, each of which includes sub-pillars.
