The first edition of the Hurghada Youth Film Festival will kick off today, Wednesday, at the Sunrise Garden Beach Hotel.
The opening ceremony will be attended by officials from the ministries of culture, tourism, antiquities, youth and sports, and the Red Sea governorate.
A slew of high-profile stars and critics will also take part of the event.
The festival runs until 27 September, and will present a series of filmmaking workshops and sessions by experienced professionals and industry experts who will cover a wide range of filmmaking aspects.
According to the renowned journalist and writer Kadri Al-Haggar, the festival will launch a platform to support cinematic ideas and projects that deserve recognition.
A jury will select the works, and material support will be provided for their production through contributors and sponsors.
The festival also offers a week of cinematic activities for all visitors, including screenings and seminars that analyze and highlight promising talents.
The festival aims to transfer and exchange cinematic experiences.
In its first and inaugural edition, the management of the Hurghada Youth Cinema Festival has decided to honor acclaimed actor Hani Salama in recognition of his diverse and distinguished cinematic journey.
Salama will receive the festival shield at the opening ceremony.
