Ren Zhengfei the Huawei founder praised on Friday, US tech in first word from company since president Joe Biden inauguration, according to Reuters report.

The United States remains a “beacon of technology” to be emulated and China’s Huawei Technology should consider cutting products in the wake of U.S. actions against it, Zhengfei noted in remarks made public on Friday.

Zhengfei's letter reported that US actions had left Huawei with a great mismatch between its strategy and abilities, and that the company will have to re-evaluate some product lines, and consider cutting some products and staff that are unproductive".

On other hand, the letter was posted publicly after former Huawei sub-brand Honor announced new supply partnerships with major chip companies including Intel and Qualcomm that it had previously lost access to due to the US action against the parent.

Moreover, the letter did not mention the Biden administration specifically, though analysts have said the company will need a reprieve from Washington to revive its hobbled phone and 5G infrastructure businesses.

Later, Trump administration has informed chipmaker Intel and other suppliers today, that it is revoked previously granted licenses and intends to reject dozens other that seek to sell tech to the Chinese company.

According to Reuters report, the Semiconductor Industry Association noted that the Commerce Department had issued “intents to deny a significant number of license requests for exports to Huawei and a revocation of at least one previously issued license.

Moreover, a source confirmed to Reuters that another $280 billion worth of license applications for Huawei have still not been processed. In contrast, Huawei suppliers have 20 days to respond. The Department of Commerce has 45 days to issue any changes to the decision, or the denials become final. Companies will have another 45 days to appeal the final decision.
