From July 18 to November 15, 2019, Space for Humanity will be accepting applications for an all-expenses-paid journey to experience the Overview Effect - a cognitive shift in worldview that occurs to astronauts when they experience the Earth from Space. They will partner with all available launch providers to offer global citizens sub-orbital spaceflights.

As a part of the program, Citizen Astronauts will participate in leadership and communication training, using their experience to forward an impact venture aligned with one of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. Following the spaceflight experience, Citizen Astronauts will serve as Social Impact Ambassadors for one year in fulfillment of their venture - in their home country and beyond.

Space for Humanity is a nonprofit organization founded to create a positive social impact on the world. They begin by enabling global citizens from all backgrounds to become astronauts - Citizen Astronauts - offering the opportunity to experience the cognitive shift in worldview that occurs when seeing the Earth from space.

Each of their citizen astronauts maintains a commitment to creating positive social impact in their communities. They can’t send everyone to space - however, they can create ripple effects using these spaceflights. If you’re not clear on what you would create as of now - don’t worry. If selected, Space for Humanity will train and support you in developing these ventures.

After training and developing your social impact initiative, you will go to space. The date of this is dependent on the technology of spaceflight providers. They are working towards 2021 for our first launch.

Upon returning from suborbital spaceflight, you will have one (1) year to launch your social impact venture, as a Space for Humanity Ambassador. Their theory of change is guided by the United Nation Sustainable Development Goals (UN-SDGs) - a blueprint for peace and prosperity for people and the planet. The UN-SDGs include 17 urgent global challenges.

At Space for Humanity, they believe partnering with our social impact with these pressing challenges is essential in maximizing their impact. And what better way to do that than with the spaceflight perspective!

The application process is expected to take most applicants 60-90 minutes to complete.

The application includes 4 sections.
