Sherif Al-Sherbini, the Egyptian Minister of Housing received Thursday the Vice President of the European Investment Bank, Gelsomina Vigliotti, and her accompanying delegation to discuss the position of the projects under implementation, under the umbrella of joint cooperation during the coming period.
The Minsiter stressed the importance of joint cooperation with the European Investment Bank, within the framework of the presidential initiative “Decent Life” to develop the Egyptian countryside, and the program to improve sustainable sanitation services, within the implementation of the National Water Strategy in Egypt.
On her part, Vigliotti said that the bank's participates in water infrastructure investments in Egypt, which will boost drinking water and sanitation services.
The projects include the expansion and development of the western wastewater treatment plant in Alexandria, the program to improve sanitation services for the Helwan, the sewage services program in Kafr El-Sheikh, the development of sanitation for polluting villages of Lake Qarun in Fayoum, and the development of sanitation services for the contaminated villages of Kitchener Bank, as well as the preparatory technical assistance grant for the treatment of sludge in Egypt.
