Hossam Hassan, the head coach of the Egyptian national football team, held an impassioned meeting with his players just hours before their highly anticipated friendly match against Cape Verde, scheduled for Monday evening as part of the Al Ain International Cup tournament being held in the United Arab Emirates.
The meeting came after Egypt's surprising 2-0 defeat to Uzbekistan in the tournament's semi-final, a result that dashed the Pharaohs' hopes of reaching the final.
During the meeting, Hassan delivered a strong message to the players, urging them to quickly put the loss behind them and focus on the upcoming challenge. He emphasized the need for a strong response befitting the name and stature of the Egyptian national team, and complete concentration to secure a victory against Cape Verde in the third-place match, aiming to return to Cairo with at least the bronze medal.
The technical director stressed that the match against Cape Verde represents a final opportunity for the players to prove themselves and implement the technical instructions, especially since it comes within the framework of the international break during which the technical staff seeks to discover more new elements and evaluate the overall performance of the team before the upcoming official commitments.
