Hossam El Badry guided Al Ahli Tripoli to a narrow 1–0 victory over Al Ahli Benghazi in the final of the Libyan Cup, securing the trophy for the third consecutive season.
The final, held on Tuesday evening at Cairo International Stadium, was decided in the 69th minute when Moayed Lafi scored the only goal of the match.
Al Ahli Benghazi were reduced to ten men after Mohamed Al-Tarhouni received a red card in the 85th minute, shown by Egyptian referee Mohamed El-Ghazi.
With this win, Al Ahli Tripoli lifted the Libyan Cup for the ninth time in their history under the leadership of El-Badry.
The victory also secured their qualification for next season’s CAF Confederation Cup.
Elsewhere in Libyan football, Al Swehli had already won the domestic league title, meaning both Al Swehli and Al Ahli Benghazi will represent Libya in the CAF Champions League next season.
