Lebanese militant group Hezbollah announced on Saturday that it launched 50 rockets targeting the Israeli settlement of Ma’alot. The attack was carried out in response to recent Israeli airstrikes on Lebanese territory. This escalation comes amid rising tensions in the region, with Hezbollah declaring the attack as part of its support for Palestinian resistance in Gaza and as a defense of Lebanon.

In an official statement, Hezbollah said: “In support of our steadfast Palestinian people in Gaza and in solidarity with its brave and honorable resistance, and in defense of Lebanon and its people, the Islamic Resistance forces launched 50 rockets on Saturday targeting the Ma’alot settlement in response to the barbaric Israeli assault on cities, villages, and civilians.”

The announcement of the rocket attack came just hours after Hezbollah confirmed the death of its Secretary-General, Hassan Nasrallah. Nasrallah was reportedly assassinated by Israeli forces during a strike on Beirut's southern suburbs on Friday evening. The assassination marks a major development in the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hezbollah, signaling a potentially dangerous escalation in hostilities.
