Heavy rainfall in the Gaza Strip has led to the inundation of numerous shelter centers, affecting tens of thousands of Palestinian citizens in both northern and southern regions. The rainwater, mixed with sewage, has seeped into classrooms, tents, and residential homes.

According to the official Palestinian news agency, several centers housing thousands of displaced individuals in the northern areas of the Strip, including Jabalia, Beit Hanoun, and Beit Lahia, have been submerged due to the continuous downpour over the past hours and into the dawn of today.

The report further states that shelters in Gaza City have also been flooded. Rainwater has entered the schools of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) in the neighborhoods of Al-Rimal, the University Square area, Asqoula, Al-Zaytoun, Al-Shuja'iyya, Al-Daraj, and Al-Tuffah.

In the central part of the Gaza Strip, rainwater has penetrated shelters comprising several UNRWA and government schools. Moreover, shelter centers in the cities of Khan Yunis and Rafah have been flooded. The majority of tents in the city of Rafah have been swept away or damaged due to severe winds, with many of these shelters housing children.

Citizens have urgently appealed to international organizations and the World Health Organization to take immediate action against the first and foremost Israeli aggression and provide shelter from the harsh rain and cold. This plea comes as many are unable to return to their homes, most of which have been demolished.

The situation for citizens, particularly the displaced, remains dire amidst the ongoing Israeli offensive, now marking its 100th consecutive day, coupled with the adverse weather conditions striking Palestine.
