The opening day of French Open started under an intense heatwave in Paris, with temperatures reaching 31°C during the first round matches.
Fans at Roland Garros were seen using handheld fans and newspapers to cope with the heat, while players focused heavily on hydration during matches across the clay courts.
Among the early fixtures, Karen Khachanov faced Arthur Gea, while Marta Kostyuk took on Oksana Selekhmeteva.
Later on Court Philippe-Chatrier, Belinda Bencic was scheduled to meet Sinja Kraus, before three-time champion Novak Djokovic opened his campaign against Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard in the evening session.
Djokovic is also set to make Grand Slam history with his 82nd major tournament appearance, surpassing both Roger Federer and Feliciano López.
