Dr. Jad Al-Qadi, head of the National Institute for Astronomical and Geophysical Research (NIAGR), confirmed that Egypt is not in the earthquake belt and is not expected to fall within that region.
He explained that the earthquake belt is not a “cup” that is could be moved, but the earthquake belt is fixed and does not change, and Egypt is not within the earthquake belt ".
And Dr. Gad El-Qadi said in a televised interview with the satellite channel “etc” this evening, Monday, that there are some areas in which earthquake activity can occur.
He indicated that those areas are located in the Gulf of Aqaba and the northern Red Sea, in addition to the occurrence of earthquakes in the Greek and Cypriot regions, and these are far from Egypt, but they may feel each other.
He added that the aftershocks of the Turkey earthquake were great, as they exacerbated the crisis and the collapse that occurred, continuing that tsunamis occur as a result of earthquakes in the oceans and seas, but it is difficult for normal earthquakes to cause these destructive waves.
