Hawass Named Arab Heritage’s Person of the Year in Oman

On Monday, Sayyid Marwan bin Turki Al Said, the Minister of State and Governor of Dhofar announced that the prominent Egyptian archaeologist Zahi Hawass has been named the Arab Heritage Person for 2022 in Oman.

 

On his part, Dr. Zahi Hawass said that he was happy to attend the Second Arab Forum for Tourism and Heritage in Oman, adding, “I am pleased to be chosen as the Arab heritage person for the year 2022.”

 

He added that many prominent people have previously claimed this award, including Sheikha Mai bint Khalifa, Minister of Culture and Antiquities in the Kingdom of Bahrain.

 

Hawass stressed that the Sultanate of Oman is distinguished by its tourism, heritage, and archaeological sites that are known throughout history.

 

Hawass added, "I invite everyone from around the world to visit the Sultanate of Oman and enjoy its prominent tourism, heritage, and culture aspects."
