Having fresh and healthy skin is a concern to women of all ages but the weird thing is the unusual skin treatments and products that are constantly hitting the market like the latest snail trend.

Professor Hany ElNazer, a dermatology professor at the National Research Center says : I would like to warn girls and woman about this new unhealthy trend on social media that uses the snail (one of the agriculture pests that’s harmful for the trees and plants and lives in a shell.) The snail is placed on the face and left to secrete a slimy substance that is said to improve the collagen formation and thus, it gives a healthy and wrinkle free skin.

ElNazer adds : There is absolutely no scientific information to confirm this but quite the opposite actually specially during these hard times, we shouldn’t risk our health by putting these substances on our skin seeing as it may lead to an allergic reaction, infection or inflammation.

Finally, the professor says: "Make sure to avoid these strange and unhealthy trends on social media and warn your friends and family of its danger because using the trendy snail may lead to many skin complications and diseases."

The strange thing is that some beauty centers started marketing the different kinds of snails be it the African Snail or the Egyptian Snail found in the soil. There are many kinds of snails like the Nautical Snail, the Wild Snail and the Water Snail. Their prices start from 100 pounds and can cost up to 1000 pounds and they are all marketed to give fresh and healthy skin.
