Barcelona will announce appointing Hansi Flick as the new first football team caoch after sacking Xavi, Sky Sports reported on Friday.
The club reached a verbal agreement with Flick after a meeting with the German coach and the former Bayern coach in London.
According to transfer market expert Fabrizio Romano, Flick was confirmed as the new Barcelona head coach, by his agent Pini Zahavi.
The deal is a two-year deal until 2026, and he will bring two German assistants as part of his staff.
A few hours ago, FC Barcelona announced that t heir head coach Xavi Hernandez will not continue his job as the head coach of the first football team.
In an official statement by Barcelona: the club said: "The president of FC Barcelona, Joan Laporta, announced this afternoon to Xavi Hernández that he will not continue as coach of the first team in the 2024-25 season."
It added: "FC Barcelona would like to thank Xavi for his work as a coach, which adds to an unparalleled career as a player and captain of the team, and wishes him all the luck in the world.
"Xavi Hernández will lead his last game as first team coach this Sunday in Seville."
The statement concluded: "In the coming days, FC Barcelona will inform about the new structure of the first team."
In January, Xavi announced that he will leave his place as the coach of the team, however, he went back on that decision after a meeting with Laporta, in April.
Last week, the events had a new twist after Xavi latest statements on the club's economic situation enraged the board.
