Egyptian giants Ahly and Zamalek will face off on Friday in the African Super Cup in Cairo with the winner representing the continent in next month's Super Globe, due to take place in Saudi Arabia 5-9 October.
Zamalek won the African champions league in 2020 and were set to face Tunisian side Etoile Sportive du Sahel, winner of the African Cup of Cup winners of the same year.
After Etoile withdrawal from the Super Cup, the Confederation of African Handball opted for Ahly instead.
The latter were recently crowned champions of the 2021 African Cup of Cup winners in Morocco.
Zamalek will play the game under the coaching of Olivier Roy, the former Barcelona assistant coach, who replaced Hussein Zaki last month.
