Huge crowds of Zamalek's fans received on Wednesday the Whites' handball team after lifting the African Men’s Handball Championship.

Zamalek's players returned home earlier today with the African Championship trophy after clinching a hard-fought 33-31 victory over Sporting on Sunday.

Huge masses of Zamalek's fans greeted the players at the Cairo International Airport after achieving their third consecutive title and their twelveth trophy overall.

The White Knights made a historic comeback during the final as they went down with a five-goal difference, before reviving their hopes in the last seconds of the game, playing an additional time.

The Whites dominated the game in the additional time, lifting their twelveth trophy. They are now topping the list of the teams, that won this title before.

Both teams ended the second half in a 28-28 draw. The White Knights ended the first additional half in a 31-29 victory, before cementing their lead in the second one with 33-31 triumph.

Noteworthy, the Whites participated in the 2019 Super Globe World Championship as they ranked fifth after demolishing Qatar’s Al Duhail 33-26.

The Whites were knocked out from the prestigious tournament, after they were defeated on Wednesday, August 28 from German side THW Kiel in the quarter-finals.

The White Knights had defeated Al -Ahly in a hard-fought 38-35 game in the African Super Cup to qualify for the Super Globe in April.

They participated in this tournament as the African Super Cup winners. The twelve-time African champions finished the 2010 Super Globe in the third place, while they came fourth in 2011 and 2012.
