Egypt's handball national team will face the defending champions Denmark in the quarter-final of the 2021 World Men’s Handball Championship.

Sweden demolished Russia 34-20 to top Group D, and pushed the Pharaohs into the second spot to set up a tough clash against Denmark.

Egypt's match against Denmark will be played on Wednesday at 19:00 CLT.

It is worth mentioning that the Pharaohs fought back to draw with Slovenia 25-25.

The Slovenian team dominated the first half, securing a 12-8 lead,  before the Egyptian team fought back to lead the game with 25-24, before the Slovenian team netted the equaliser in the last second.

Dinamo Bucharest pivot Mamdouh Hashem, veteran player Ahmed El-Ahmar and promising youngster Ahmed Hesham stood out for Egypt.

Egyptian goalkeeper El Tayar made brilliant saves to prevent Slovenia’s players from netting against the Pharaohs.

The Pharaohs have now 7 points.

The Egyptian player Yahia Khaled has been named the best player in the match.
