A source in the “Hamas”, a Palestinian resistant Islamic movement, said that the movement is on its way to resuming its relationship with Syria after 10 years of estrangement and years of quiet work to settle disputes with Damascus.

The source added that “the return of relations was part of discussions that took place for years with Iran and Hezbollah,” noting that “the movement insisted that it was neutral and did not interfere, and gave positive indications to all mediators and also obtained positive indications from Syria.

The source stressed that the decision to resume the relationship with Syria is not new, and was taken earlier, specifically more than 10 months ago, in light of many changes, including the change in the leadership of “Hamas”, in reference to the rise and control of the hardliner wing close to Syria and Iran in the last two sessions.

This wing believes in the importance of the relationship with Iran.
