Hamas has attributed the responsibility for the deaths of Israeli hostages to Tel Aviv and US President Joe Biden amidst the ongoing war on the Gaza Strip and the avoidance of reaching a ceasefire agreement.
In a statement on Sunday, Hamas Political Bureau member Izzat al-Rishq stated, “The responsibility for the death of the prisoners held by the resistance lies with the occupation that insists on continuing the genocide and avoiding reaching a ceasefire agreement, and with the US administration due to its bias and its support and partnership in this aggression.”
Al-Rishq added, “The one killing our people daily is the occupation with American weapons, and the bodies of prisoners found in the Gaza Strip were killed only by Zionist bombing. If President Biden is concerned about their lives, he should stop his financial and military support for this enemy and pressure the occupation to immediately end its aggression.” Al-Rishq emphasized that “Netanyahu and his extremist government, along with all supporters of this aggression, will pay the price for these brutal crimes and the genocide against our people over the past eleven months.”
He continued, “We hold the US administration and Biden himself responsible for the daily crimes and the genocide in the Gaza Strip, which so far has resulted in more than 150,000 martyrs and wounded, 69% of whom are children and women.”
He pointed out that “history will remember Biden as he leaves the White House as a partner and supporter of war criminals Netanyahu and his gang.” Al-Rishq affirmed, “Hamas was more concerned than Biden about the lives of the prisoners it held, which is why it agreed to his proposal and the UN Security Council resolution, while Netanyahu rejected them and his administration capitulated to Netanyahu’s conditions aimed at disrupting the reaching of an agreement to maintain his power.”
