#Halloween hashtag has topped Twitter trends on Thursday with numerous account reaches, posts and re-tweets.

The hashtag was initiated to celebrate Halloween occasion, which falls annually on October 31.

Social media users took to their "Twitter" accounts, to share their photos and videos, wearing Halloween customs and make-up. Some of them posted greeting pictures, while others posted scary animations.

It is considered one of the world’s oldest holidays, celebrated by a big number of people around the world.

Every country has its way and style of celebrating Halloween.

Halloween is popularly celebrated among both American children and adults. They tend to tell horror stories and watch horror movies on that day.

The Americans also keen to make lanterns through craving pumpkins and inserting a candle inside it to create the light in it.

You also would see children in special costumes and going trick-or-treating, which involves many games, including going door to door, knocking and calling out, receiving candy in return.

On Halloween, it was believed that the spirits and ghosts of the dead came back to roam the earth. People then wore masks and "dressed up" in an outfit to look like one of the spirits to avoid being recognized as one of the living.
