Haiti produced an impressive performance to defeat New Zealand 4-0 in an international friendly played early Wednesday, as both teams continued their preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which begins on June 11 in the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
Goals from Robin Prophète, Lenny Joseph, Pierrot, and Lacour secured a convincing victory for Haiti, with the strikes coming in the 11th, 50th, 61st, and 87th minutes.
The match marked the first-ever meeting between the two nations. New Zealand, returning to the World Cup for the first time since 2010, used the fixture as part of its final preparations before facing England in another warm-up match.
The All Whites are holding their pre-tournament camp in San Diego and will open their World Cup campaign against Iran in Los Angeles on June 16. They will then face Egypt in Vancouver on June 22 before concluding the group stage against Belgium on June 27.
Meanwhile, Haiti heads into the tournament with growing confidence ahead of its second World Cup appearance and first in 52 years. Haiti has been drawn into a challenging group featuring Brazil, Morocco, and Scotland.
The emphatic victory provides a significant morale boost for Haiti as it prepares to compete on football’s biggest stage.
