Real Oviedo have officially been relegated to Spain’s second division after just one season in La Liga following Rayo Vallecano’s draw with Girona FC, which left Oviedo 10 points adrift of safety with only three matches remaining.
The relegation was confirmed after Oviedo were held to a goalless draw by Getafe CF in Round 35 of the Spanish league.
Egyptian winger Haitham Hassan started the match before being substituted during the second half.
Oviedo remain bottom of the table with 29 points, becoming the first team officially relegated from La Liga this season after failing to close the gap to the survival spots.
The club is now set to face Real Madrid C.F. at the Santiago Bernabéu on Thursday in their next league fixture.
