Haftar: We appreciate the pivotal role of Egypt and President Sisi in restoring security and stability in Libya

President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi received today Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar, Commander-in-Chief of the Libyan National Army, in the presence of Major General Hassan Rashad, Head of General Intelligence, Lieutenant General Khaled Khalifa, Chief of the General Staff of the Libyan National Army, and Lieutenant General Saddam Khalifa, Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Libyan National Army.

Ambassador Mohamed El Shenawy, the official spokesman for the Presidency of the Republic, stated that during the meeting, the depth and special nature of Egyptian-Libyan relations were emphasized. The President also stressed Egypt’s full support for the sovereignty, stability, unity and territorial integrity of Libya, appreciating the pivotal role of the General Command of the Libyan Army in this regard, and stressing the need to confront any foreign interference.

For his part, Field Marshal Haftar expressed his appreciation for the pivotal role played by Egypt, and President Sisi, in restoring security and stability in Libya, and the continuous support it has provided to the Libyan people since the beginning of the crisis, stressing his keenness to continue coordination and exchange of views with President Sisi regarding the various developments on the Libyan and regional scenes.
