Today, Marshal Khalifa Haftar, Commander in Chief of the Libyan Army, stressed the importance of the Egyptian role in Arab issues in general, and the Libyan issue in particular.

Haftar received Minister Abbas Kamel, head of the Egyptian General Intelligence Service, at the Libyan army headquarters in Rajma.

The two parties discussed, according to a statement by the General Command, all security files of common interest between the two countries, in addition to most issues related to joint national security.

Minister Abbas praised the efforts of the Libyan army in fighting terrorism and arresting those who are wanted locally and internationally, appreciating the role of the Commander in Chief Field Marshal Haftar.

Marshal Haftar extended his sincere thanks to the leadership, army and people of the Arab Republic of Egypt for its prominent role in Arab issues.

According to the outcomes of the Joint Libyan Military Committee meeting (5 + 5) in Sirte and the ceasefire agreement signed in Geneva on October 23, mercenaries and foreign fighters will be removed from Libya, opening the coastal road, securing the movement of civilians, exchanging prisoners, handing over the bodies, and continuing in fighting internationally classified terrorist groups.

However, Turkey continues to violate the arms embargo imposed by the United Nations on Libya since 2011, as it provides great support to the Tripoli government with equipment and mercenaries to confront the Libyan National Army.

Turkish practices contribute to aborting international efforts aimed at resolving the Libyan crisis, including the outcomes of the German capital Berlin conference, which called for monitoring the arms embargo, disarming militias and imposing sanctions on the party that violates the armistice.

Last Saturday, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan submitted a memorandum to the Presidency of Parliament to extend the tasks of his forces in Libya for an additional 18 months.
