Haftar: LNA Has All Right to Liberate Homeland from Terrorists

A high-level delegation that included advisors and ambassadors from France, Italy and Germany, paid a visit to the commander of the Libyan National Army, Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar, at the headquarters of the General Command in Targum, east of Benghazi. The delegation has stressed on the role of the Libyan army in eliminating militias and terrorist groups.

According to a statement of the General Command of the Libyan Armed Forces, today: "The visiting (French, Italian, German) delegation discussed in this meeting the latest political and military developments with the Commander in Chief, stressing the role of the General Command in eliminating militias and terrorist groups."

On his part, Field Marshal Haftar affirmed that the national army has all the right to continue its efforts to liberate the entire Libyan soil.

According to the statement: "The attendees listened to the vision of the general leadership to solve the crisis in Libya and the importance of establishing peace and stability and moving from the transitional stages to the permanent stage and starting the democratic path, the rule of law and building the state of institutions."

The statement pointed out that the delegation included Mr. Patrick Dorell, Advisor to the French President for African Affairs, Mr. Emmanuel Boone, the diplomatic advisor to the French President, Ms. Beatrice Helen, the French ambassador to Libya; Jan Hecker is the diplomatic advisor to the German chancellor and Mr. Olver Oviecha is the German ambassador to Libya.

Earlier this week, the United Nations special envoy for Libya Ghassan Salama announced on Twitter his willing to resign, citing health reasons, days after his latest effort at peacemaking failed to achieve a breakthrough in the conflict.

Salama said on Twitter that he had “sought for two and a half years to unite Libyans, prevent foreign intervention and preserve the unity of the country”, but “my health no longer allows me to take this much stress”.
