GUC has coordinated with East Carolina in the USA to convene that conference. Over the concluding session, Dr. Ibrahim El Dimmiry, member of Board of Trustees of GUC and Head of the conference, announced recommendations.

The conference showed the importance of integration between various fields of engineering to provide solutions to cope up with challenges of the fourth generations of the smart cities.

The discussions also revealed the active role of the Internet and communication systems in designing and constructing cities of the fourth generation, known as "Smart cities 4.0 ".

The conference assured the role played by German University in Cairo in furnishing research platforms to carry out experiment, develop applications of the smart systems, and encourage the researchers to be more creative and find applications suitable for Egypt and Africa.

GUC employs all resources to serve the purpose of constructing the smart cities known as "Smart cities 4.0" in Egypt and Africa. It has developed and smart laboratories, and a town of renewable energy (solar energy), an industrial and applied compound to transfer technologies to Egypt.

Laboratories of GUC house the most sophisticated scientific apparatuses in the world. The conference recommended the activation of joint scientific research.

The German University has decided to hold the conference of the smart “Smart cities 4.0 " biannually. All prominent scientists and experts in planning, designing and constructing the smart cities and artificial intelligence across the world would be invited to the next version of the conference to exchange knowledge with scientists of GUC.  New technologies would be introduced to the smart cities planned to be built within the coming plans of the state.  The state plans to build 24 smart cities of the fourth generation by 2050.
