The future of Pep Guardiola at Manchester City has been thrown into doubt following the team's elimination from the UEFA Champions League Round of 16 at the hands of Real Madrid.

Real Madrid secured a commanding 3-0 victory in the first leg at Santiago Bernabéu Stadium, before completing the job with a 2-1 win in the return leg at the Etihad Stadium on Tuesday.

According to reports from the British newspaper Daily Mail, Guardiola’s future at Manchester City could be decided in the coming days, with the club’s hierarchy preparing for a crucial internal meeting.

The Spanish manager’s position is expected to be at the center of discussions, as officials weigh the options of continuity or change ahead of next season.

The report added that Guardiola is set to take a short break to reflect on his future and assess his next steps.

Historically, the Spanish coach has preferred short term contracts, a pattern he followed before joining Manchester City in 2016.

Guardiola enjoyed a highly successful spell with FC Barcelona, where he spent four seasons, before managing Bayern Munich for three years.

He is currently in his tenth consecutive season at Manchester City, with his contract running until June 2027.

Despite his long term deal, the recent European setback has intensified speculation about his future, placing added pressure on both the manager and the club as they approach a pivotal moment in their partnership.
