The economic and social development plan for the new fiscal year 2022/2023 submitted by the Minister of Planning, Dr. Hala Al-Saeed, and approved by both houses of Parliament (House of Representatives (HoR) and the Senate), affirmed Egypt’s keenness to follow up on developments in human development indicators, by monitoring changes seen in the various components of the development system, human rights.

The plan revealed that positive indicators in the field of health included a decline in mortality rates for infants and under-five children and mothers, an increase in the average life expectancy at birth (from about 70.3 years in 2010 to 71.8 in 2018), and a decrease in the prevalence of some diseases (such as tuberculosis and HIV), autoimmune, and hepatitis viruses).

The plan drew attention to an increase in the rates of health service availability, in terms of the number of hospitals and beds, the number of doctors, and nursing staff.
