Production on Aziz Ansari’s feature directorial debut "Good Fortune" has been suspended indefinitely amid the writers strike.

Ansari was directing and starring opposite Keanu Reeves and Seth Rogen in the comedy, which he also wrote and was producing for Lionsgate.

WGA strike proved challenging to the production. Picketers interrupted filming on May 16 and May 17 this week while it attempted to shoot in Los Angeles’ Koreatown.

Plans for principal photography to resume in the future are unknown at the time.

The pic is produced by Anthony Katagas, Alan Yang, and Ansari. At Lionsgate, the film will be overseen by Brady Fujikawa and Jon Humphrey. Dan Freedman, Phil Strina, John Biondo, and Matt Leonetti helped to negotiate the deal for Lionsgate.

Lionsgate is launching sales at Cannes Film Festival.

“Good Fortune” is Ansari’s second attempt to make his directorial debut. He was previously working on the comedic drama “Being Mortal” for Searchlight, which was infinitely suspended over complaints about actor Bill Murray’s inappropriate behavior on set.

Ansari, a comedian who rose to fame on “Parks and Recreation”, took a break from Hollywood after sexual misconduct allegations were leveled against him in 2018. He has since returned to film and television with “Master of None: Moments in Love” and his sixth stand-up special, “Nightclub Comedian”.
