The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has confirmed the appointment of South African Victor Miguel de Freitas Gomes as the center referee for the most-awaited CAF Super Cup encounter between Egypt's Zamalek and Espérance Sportive de Tunis.
Both Arab clubs are set to face each other in the CAF Super Cup on Friday in Qatar.
The Tunisian side will enter the game as the holders of the CAF Champions League, while the White Knights will play the Super Cup as the Confederation Cup champions.
The 37-year-old FIFA badge referee is widely regarded as one of the best referees in the continent.
He ran five matches for the Tunisian Side before; four of them were in the Champions League.
In these five clashes, ES Tunis won three clashes and drew in the other two matches.
Gomes also took the charge of Al Ahly's clash against Étoile Sportive du Sahel in Cairo, where the Red Devils snatched a 1-0 victory over the Tunisian side.
