The General Division for Gold and Jewelry has announced an exciting jewelry design contest to take place alongside the fourth edition of the Nebu Gold and Jewelry Exhibition, scheduled from December 15 to 17.
The event, sponsored by the General Division for Gold and Jewelry, the Assay and Weights Authority, and Egypt's Ministry of Supply and Internal Trade, is set to highlight the artistic talent of jewelry designers and promote Egyptian craftsmanship on the global stage.
According to Eng. Hani Milad, Chairman of the General Division for Gold and Jewelry at the Federation of Egyptian Chambers of Commerce, the contest aims to foster innovation among designers, celebrating both modern and historical influences.
Under the theme "Jewelry and Egyptian Identity Throughout History - The Ancient Egyptian and Pharaonic Eras," participants are encouraged to draw inspiration from Egypt’s rich cultural heritage, blending modernity with traditional artistry.
This theme reflects Egypt’s diverse artistic, cultural, and historical heritage and promotes a creative reimagining of Egyptian jewelry for global markets.
This contest marks a foundational step toward establishing Egypt as a leading center for gold and jewelry craftsmanship, helping boost exports and positioning the country as a global jewelry industry hub. Open to both Egyptian and international participants, the contest includes two main categories: handcrafted design and digital design.
Prizes for each category are set at EGP 10,000 for first place, EGP 7,500 for second, and EGP 5,000 for third. Winners will be announced, and awards presented, during the exhibition.
Eng. Milad extended an invitation to artists and designers, encouraging them to seize this opportunity to showcase their work at this international platform. Not only will contest entries be displayed, but they will also be available for potential purchase by manufacturers interested in turning unique designs into production pieces.
Additionally, the event will feature an art exhibition entitled "Gold and Jewelry as a Reflection of Egyptian Identity Throughout History - The Ancient Egyptian Era," spotlighting the deep connection between jewelry design and Egyptian identity.
