Ghana and Wales played out a 1-1 draw in an international friendly on Tuesday at Cardiff City Stadium as both teams continued their preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The match marked another important step in the build-up to the tournament for Ghana head coach Carlos Queiroz, who used the encounter to assess his squad's readiness ahead of the global showpiece.
Ghana took the lead in the 65th minute through Caleb Yirenkyi after a strong second-half display from the Black Stars. The African side appeared on course for victory, but Wales rescued a draw deep into stoppage time when Lewis Koumas scored in the fourth minute of added time.
Despite conceding a late equalizer, Ghana produced an encouraging performance and gained valuable experience against European opposition.
Queiroz took advantage of the friendly to evaluate several tactical options and monitor the physical condition of his players before the team's departure for North America.
Ghana will compete in Group L at the 2026 FIFA World Cup alongside England, Croatia, and Panama. The Black Stars are aiming to secure a place in the knockout stages from what is expected to be one of the tournament's most competitive groups.
