GFF Presents Over 84 Films in It's 3rd Edition

The 3rd edition of the El Gouna Film Festival " GFF" opened. Running from 19 to 27 September, the event will showcase 84 films, representing a total of 41 different countries.

Amongst this year’s selection are films which already showed in international film festivals such as Toronto, Venice and San Sebastian. However, most films are being screened in the MENA region for the first time and 14 world premieres are expected.

According to COO and co-founder Bushra Rozza ,the aim is to put the festival on the international map. More than 200 movie stars and filmmakers made an appearance on the red carpet, including Canadian-Egyptian star Mena Massoud, who is best known for playing the lead role in the recent Disney remake of Aladdin.

During the opening ceremony, Naguib Sawiris expressed his great pleasure at the launch of the festival, stressing that the GFF brought back the glamor to film festivals.

On other hand, the opening ceremony was attended by a big number of stars including Mona Zaki, Yousra, Boshra, Dora, Hind Sabri, Ghada Adel, Akram Hosni, Mohamed Ramadan, Elham Shahen, Ahmed El-Feshawy and others.

This edition of GFF honoured big names of Arab cinema, including Palestinian director and producer Mai Masri. During the opening ceremony, Masri received a Career Achievement Award for her lifelong dedication to cinema.

El Gouna Film Festival is one of the leading festivals in the Middle East. It aims to connect filmmakers from the region with their international counterparts in the spirit of cooperation and cultural exchange.
