Las Vegas witnessed a dramatic night of action as WrestleMania 42 Night 1 unfolded in front of 50,816 fans at Allegiant Stadium on April 18, 2026. 

The event was headlined by Cody Rhodes, who retained his Undisputed WWE Championship after a heated 22-minute battle against Randy Orton, but controversy and surprise moments defined the evening.

Rhodes, known as The American Nightmare, adopted villain-like tactics throughout the main event. 

He used underhanded moves, including an eye poke and a low blow, to gain the advantage. 

Interference from Pat McAfee briefly added chaos before he was removed from ringside. In an unexpected twist, Jelly Roll appeared and took out McAfee with a flying elbow through a table, drawing a huge reaction from the crowd.

Their victory came against teams featuring Charlotte Flair, Alexa Bliss, Bayley, and Lyra Valkyria. The crowd erupted as Paige sealed the win with her signature move, marking a historic comeback moment.

The night also saw several major title changes. Liv Morgan captured the Women’s World Championship by defeating Stephanie Vaquer in a surprising result. 

Becky Lynch successfully defended her Women’s Intercontinental Championship against AJ Lee in a physically intense match. 

Gunther defeated Seth Rollins in one of the most critically praised matches of the night, featuring multiple near-falls and technical exchanges.

Following that match, Bron Breakker made a shocking return. He stormed to the ring and delivered a powerful spear to Rollins, sending shockwaves through the stadium.

Breakker then shared a moment with Paul Heyman, hinting at a possible new alliance.

Another emotional moment came when Alexa Bliss paid tribute to Bray Wyatt with a special entrance, while Bianca Belair appeared during Liv Morgan’s celebration to announce her pregnancy, adding a personal highlight to the show.
