The 2026/27 Premier League season is set to begin on August 22, 2026, with defending champions Arsenal aiming to retain the title after ending their 22-year wait for league glory.

The start of the campaign has been pushed back by a week compared to the previous season to allow players additional recovery time following the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The season will conclude on May 30, 2027, with all final-day fixtures expected to kick off simultaneously.

The league’s full fixture list is scheduled to be released on June 10, while the campaign will feature 33 weekend match rounds and five midweek rounds.

The upcoming season will also welcome three newly promoted clubs. Coventry City secured promotion as Championship winners, while Ipswich Town returned to the top flight as runners-up.

Hull City claimed the final promotion spot after defeating Middlesbrough in the Championship play-off final at Wembley.

They replace relegated sides Wolverhampton Wanderers, Burnley and West Ham United.

Attention will also turn to the transfer market, with the summer transfer window opening on June 15 and closing on September 1, 2026.

The winter transfer window will run from January 1 to February 1, 2027. Meanwhile, domestic cup competitions will begin before the league campaign gets underway, with the EFL Cup expected to start in early August and conclude with the final at Wembley on February 28, 2027.

The FA Cup final is anticipated to take place on May 22, 2027, just weeks before the UEFA Champions League Final on June 5.

Following their title-winning campaign, Arsenal will enter the season as the team to beat, while rivals Manchester City begin a new era after the departure of manager Pep Guardiola.

Manchester United will also be expected to challenge after showing significant improvement under Michael Carrick, setting the stage for another highly competitive Premier League campaign.
