Germany is currently looking to support Ukrainian defense efforts by supplying military helicopters from the German Armed Forces.

Germany's Defense Minister Boris Pistorius has pledged to provide Ukraine with six multi-purpose helicopters of the "Sea King Mk 41" model, along with accessories and spare parts, as well as training, as announced by the Ministry of Defense on Tuesday in Berlin.

Prior to the announcement of the helicopters, representatives of countries supporting Ukraine met via video conference as part of the "Rahmstein" format for consultative talks.

Pistorius stated that the Sea King helicopter is a proven and robust aircraft that will assist Ukrainians in various areas, from reconnaissance over the Black Sea to troop transport.

This is the first German shipment of its kind.

Air defense remains a top priority for protecting the Ukrainian population and infrastructure, with a need to accelerate the pace of weapon production.

According to the German Ministry of Defense, the total value of German military shipments has reached about 6 billion euros (5.6 billion dollars) since the outbreak of the war.
